Laura Hamrick, a Westerville, Ohio stay-at-home mom researched and devised OnTray, a container that could be hooked onto a shopping cart to hold food, coupons or other items to free up a parent to shop while keeping toddlers occupied. In less than two months, Hamrick has sold more than 200 OnTrays at $6.99 each through her company Web site. One retailer is interested in selling the item in a chain of Minnesota grocery stores. Hamrick is among a new breed of “mompreneurs,” a term used to describe women who leave the workplace to raise children and operate home-based small businesses.

The new site must be a blend of great design style, and solid ecommerce practices. We want the design to present the brand in an attractive manner, but the design cannot take away from the main focus of the site, which is to sell product offers.

Create very professional digital designs and artwork and compelling graphic elements as well as layouts. Have solid experience creating website layouts and coding. Experience / knowledge of ecommerce sites are essential. We are trying to improve the assets we use to merchandise the products, and distinguish ourselves from the competition.

Entrepreneur Josh Bereano, 38, said he rolls out of bed each morning in his Hawthorne Hills neighborhood to check his e-mail. He feels cut off from the work force sometimes. My Day Office, a new Belltown business, hopes to cater to folks like Bereano — mobile workers who don’t need, or can’t yet afford, a long office lease. It will offer an ? la carte office space and services. President Shauna Brennan said every employee is the boss. The first location, at Broad Street and Elliott Avenue, is scheduled to open after Labor Day, Brennan said. Its large windows take in the Olympic Sculpture Park. She hopes to open 20 locations along Interstate 5 in the next decade.
