Courtesy of the U.S. Census Bureau, here are a few facts that you probably didn’t know about the U.S. Labor Force.
- Millions like to be their own boss or at least in their own home. About 10.6 million people in the U.S. are self-employed and about 4.8 million people work at home.
- About 77 percent of workers drive alone to work. About 11 percent carpool to work, and 5 percent take public transportation.
- Not many people get benefits for child care, long-term care insurance or vision care.
- The projected growth in the number of home health aides from 2002 to 2014 is 56 percent.
- Men still earn more than women with the annual median earnings for full-time, year-round workers $41,386 for men and $31,858 for women.
