Computing tools are an integral component of our work at home lifestyle. And, with more of us consulting on various projects, both in and away from our home office, the proper mobile computing enhancements are of paramount importance.

One important mobile tool, web based email, may be the panacea for managing Internet communications while away from home. However, merely checking your email may not be enough. Thankfully, Google Email has become so popular that independent developers and even Google itself has provided us with enhancements to make our emailing experience more meaningful.

One such enhancement is Gmail Notifier, an application that alerts you when you have new Gmail messages. It displays an icon in your system tray to let you know if you have unread Gmail messages, and shows you their subjects, senders and snippets, all without your having to open a web browser.

And, when using Google Email, nothing works better, providing increase usability then keyboard shortcuts. I use them and finding the shortcuts might handy. Give them a try.
